Chelate and activate: Nonreductive activation of both uranyl oxo bonds was experimentally evidenced and characterized in the gas phase upon chelation of uranyl by an organic siderophore derivative and subsequent collision induced dissociation. The resulting species is a formal U6+ chelate.
