Short and efficient synthesis of Guillou's Galanthamine intermediate
A rapid synthesis of Guillou's Galanthamine intermediate 9 was achieved starting from commercially available 6-bromoguaiacol. The improved synthetic route featured a modified Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction and a cyclization promoted by K2CO3. Compound 9 was successfully obtained in 58% overall yield from 6-bromoguaiacol under mild reaction conditions in five steps.
