(Abstracted from Br J Anaesth, 118(4):517–526, 2017) This systematic review aimed to assess data from clinical trials to determine perioperative local anesthetic (LA) systemic concentrations following single-bolus transversus abdominis plane block (TAPB) or rectus sheath block (RSB) during abdominal surgery in order to improve our understanding of LA absorption and risk of toxicity following these blocks.
