Welcome to the second episode of ‘Academic Venture Building’, Researcher Live’ new live discussion event series on entrepreneurial topics. In partnership with Blenheim Chalcot, UK’s leading venture builder, we invite high profile experts for each topic and tackle burning questions surrounding the process of launching and scaling an academic venture. On 11th January 2022 at 1pm GMT, we will be focusing on the lifecycle of an academic venture.

 Topics to be discussed will include:  

  • What is the typical lifecycle of academic and student ventures within a university?
  • What are the key elements within each stage of this academic venture lifecycle?
  • What are the typical university entrepreneurial and commercial support resources one can access?

Ben is Director of Imperial Enterprise Lab. The Imperial Enterprise Lab team supports the next generation of innovators & entrepreneurs at Imperial College London through hypothesis-driven experiential learning programmes and coaching.

,Rebeca Santamaria-Fernandez

Rebeca is the Director of Industry Partnerships and Commercialisation (IPC) at Imperial College, focused on maximising the impact of Imperial’s academic discoveries through collaboration and commercialisation.

,Nick Gregg

Nick Gregg led the Blenheim Chalcot Investments Team for 4 years and is now heading new strategic projects for the BC Founding Partners. He has over 20 years’ experience as an entrepreneur, investor and advising on funding. Nick previously ran European Internet and Software equity research for a US investment bank and started his career as a strategy consultant with Monitor Company. Nick holds an MA in Engineering from Cambridge Universitya.
