A postsynthetic method has been introduced to prepare a series of Cu4I4−Cu3Pz3 (Pz = pyrazolate) based coordination networks, implementing single-site modification on the Cu4I4Py3L′ (Py = pyridine) sites via the anchoring ligand L′ (L′ = acetonitrile, pyridine, pyrazine, 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane, triphenylphosphine, none) substitution. The postsynthetic ligand substitution not only results in a rare topological transformation but also provides new insight into understanding the photoluminescence behaviors of networked Cu4I4-type complexes.
