Tris(2-methoxyphenyl)phosphine substituted diiron ethanedithiolate complexes containing hydroxymethyl, methyl or ethyl groups

Tris(2-methoxyphenyl)phosphine substituted diiron ethanedithiolate complexes containing hydroxymethyl, methyl or ethyl groups
Treatment of the diiron hexacarbonyl complexes [μ-SCH2CH(R)S-μ]Fe2(CO)6 (R=CH2OH, 1; CH3, 2; CH2CH3, 3) with a monophosphine ligand tris(2-methoxyphenyl)phosphine in the presence of Me3NO 2H2O gave monosubstituted complexes [μ-SCH2CH(R)S-μ]Fe2(CO)5[P(C6H4OCH3-2)3] (R=CH2OH, 4; CH3, 5; CH2CH3, 6) in 60–89% yields. The new complexes 46 were characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopy. Moreover, the molecular structures of the complexes 46 as well as 1 and 2 were confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis.
