Synthesis and characterization of a cobalt-2,6-pyridinedicarboxylate MOF with potential application in electrochemical sensing

Synthesis and characterization of a cobalt-2,6-pyridinedicarboxylate MOF with potential application in electrochemical sensing
A new coordination compound using 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid and cobalt(II) (1 ={(C5H5NH)[Co(C7H4NO4)(C7H3NO4)]·(C7H5NO4)·(H2O)} n ) was synthesized by slow evaporation. The compound forms a 1D supramolecular structure by alternating metal–organic coordination chains held together by a combination of covalent and non-covalent bonds. The structure was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, FTIR, TGA and DSC. The electrocatalytic properties of 1 were investigated in the oxidation of l-cysteine and it was found to be an able catalyst.
