Understanding the Inhibiting Effect of BTC on CuBTC Growth through Experiment and Modeling

An increase in the Cu2+ concentration leads to an increase in the reaction rate of CuBTC MOF formation, while a high BTC concentration slows down the growth because of the formation of a BTC-overcoordinated CuBTCx species that only slowly reacts to CuBTC MOF.
