Highly Symmetric AB2 Framework Related to Tridymite in the Disordered Nitridosilicate La24Sr14–7x[Si36N72](O1–xFx)14 (x = 0.489)

High-temperature metathesis starting from silicon and imides, hydrides, and fluorides accesses highly condensed nitridosilicates. Using this approach, La24Sr14−7x[Si36N72](O1−xFx)14 (x ≈ 0.489) was obtained and the structure determination of the needle-shaped microcrystals was done by microfocused synchrotron X-ray diffraction. Transmission electron microscopy confirmed the structure model that is the first representative of a predicted AB2 framework related to tridymite. The highly symmetric structure exhibits channels filled with La3+, Sr2+, O2−, and F expecting possible ion exchanges and substitution experiments.
