Inducible promoter systems are important tools in metabolic engineering because it provides an additional level of regulation to improve efficiency in microbial biosynthetic processes. The cover depicts the application of a hybrid fatty acid promoter in the oleaginous yeast, Yarrowia lipolytica - the first strongly induced, yet tunable expression platform to expand on the genetic toolbox of the industrial yeast.
