The Front Cover shows the Swedish Chef who, being offered the scientific freedom to explore new recipes, discovered that boron is the most efficient catalyst for the oxidative upgrading of natural gas-derived alkanes to highly-desired olefins. It is a good reminder to the scientific community that despite decades of systematic research on ODH, serendipitous breakthroughs are still possible and can lead to new insights and applications. In their Communication, J. T. Grant et al. demonstrate that multiple boron-containing materials, as well as elemental boron, are active and selective catalysts for the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane reaction as a method to form small olefins. More information can be found in the Communication by J. T. Grant et al. on page 3623 in Issue 19, 2017 (DOI: 10.1002/cctc.201701140).
