Join us on the 22nd April (Earth's day) at 10am BST / 9 am GMT for the sixth episode in our series, with PhD Candidate Jake Brooker (Durham University) who will be talking about his work with apes. 

 

Many wild species face threatened futures due to human encroachment and poaching. Primates, including great apes, are at particular risk. Whilst all animals belong in their natural environments, the formation of sanctuaries has provided protected homes for members of endangered species rescued from the pet and bushmeat trades. Jake Brooker explains the role sanctuaries can play in protecting our closest living relatives, how they help us learn more about them, and what we can do to support their work. Over the years, Jake has worked has conducted varied field work with captive, semi-wild, and free-roaming great apes in Europe and Africa.
