Join us on the 26th April at 9am BST / 8am GMT/ 10am CET for episode eight in our series, with Prof Neil Ward, University of East Anglia. His book Net Zero, Food and Farming: Climate Change Lessons from the UK Agri-Food examines the implications of the net zero transition for food and farming in the UK and how these can be managed to avoid catastrophic climate change in the crucial decades ahead. In this Researcher Live event, Prof. Ward will discuss the contents of his book and its reasoning and implications.

 

International efforts to address climate change have focussed heavily on power generation and transport, but the agri-food system remains a difficult problem accounting for over a third of total greenhouse gas emissions.  This talk introduces the challenges for the agri-food system in the transition to net zero emissions to meet the Paris Agreement commitments.  It takes the particular case of the UK agri-food system to explore the implications for diet, land use and farming practices, and draws lessons for the science and politics of the agri-food system's net zero transition around the world.
