The reaction of the titanium alkoxide diketonate [Ti(acac)2(OiPr)2] or titanium oxy diketonate [Ti(acac)2(O)] and tert-butylphosphonic acid yields as many as five different molecular clusters consisting of four, five, or six metal centers; these clusters are structurally related to each other through a hierarchical cluster growth mechanism.
