The Cover Feature shows the transformation of a Ti-free microporous zeolite beta into a Ti-beta zeolite with hierarchical porosity by using the novel post-synthesis method of simultaneous desilication and titanation (SDT). In their Full Paper, A. Werner et. al. demonstrate that by applying SDT, larger transport pores as well as catalytically active Ti sites are introduced in the material in one synthetic step. The resulting zeolite outperforms a microporous Ti-beta in the epoxidation of larger cyclic olefins, such as cyclooctene, owing to faster desorption kinetics and a higher accessibility of the active sites.
