A merger of a metal-free [2+2] cycloaddition and an S-centered radical induced 1,4-addition sequence of benzene-linked allene-ynes has been established. In their Communication (DOI: 10.1002/anie.201707615), B. Jiang et al. describe the utility of their reaction for accessing functionalized cyclobuta[a]naphthalen-4-ols. The eagles are portrayed as bringing together the components of the reaction.
