N-Phosphine oxide-substituted imidazolylidene (PoxIms) was purposefully developed as a modern synthetic tool in chemistry to have multipurpose applications. It has so far been strategically used in molecular hydrogen activation, transformation of CO2 into useful carbonyl compounds as well as used as a bidentate ligand for transition metals and an organocatalyst.
