We present the synthesis and structure of a gigantic polyoxozirconate nanocluster (Zr18O21([small mu ]2-OH)2(OOCPh)28), involving 6, 7 and 8-coordinated Zr atoms. It represents the largest and the first visible-active polyoxozirconate so far. And the cluster exhibits visible light driven photocatalytic activity for H2 production.
