Electron transport layers (ETLs) for highly efficient OPVs are prepared by a convenient low-temperature solution-processing route. The ETLs consist of ZnO nanoparticles embedded in an extended amorphous organic matrix deposited at only 110 °C. Charge transport is facilitated by the ZnO species with the organic matrix serving to tune the work function of the ETL and to provide excellent resistance to current leakage.
