The Protein Data Bank survey of amyloids pointed to two distinct aromatic−aromatic interaction geometries: when the aromatic residues belong to the same β-sheet (intrasheet) and when they belong to different β-sheets (intersheet). The survey gave the most frequent intersheet aromatic−aromatic interactions with the angles between two aromatic rings in the range of 30−40° and offsets around 3 Å.
