The inside back cover picture shows the divergent anti-biofilm potentials of a thiosemicarbazone-based zinc-complexing ligand and a benzothiazole-based one. Mechanistic studies provided a fundamental understanding of how the structural differences in these non-bactericidal ligands had contrasting effects on the inhibition of biofilm growth (shown as a build up of blue spheres). This information could be used as a guide in designing compounds that would target the onset of staphylococcal biofilm formation. More information can be found in the full paper by G.
