Optical Spectra and Magnetic Behavior of a Wide Range of Europium(III) Oxo-Compounds: Analysis of the Ligand-Field Effects
Robert Glaum, Nils Kannengießer, Anna Bronova
High-resolution powder reflectance spectra and temperature-dependent magnetic moments were measured for a series of nine europium(III) oxo-compounds including C-type Eu2O3. The various low-symmetry ligand fields were analyzed within the AOM framework using computer program BonnMag. A surprisingly large second-sphere ligand-field effect was thus discovered.
