Beryllium-free Rb3Ba3Li2Al4B6O20F features a layered structure analogue to that of notable KBe2BO3F2 (KBBF), thereby preserving its outstanding optical properties to a great extent. Remarkably, Rb3Ba3Li2Al4B6O20F exhibits a significantly reinforced interlayer bonding with a magnitude of more than 15.6 times that of KBBF. Thus, Rb3Ba3Li2Al4B6O20F has no or only a tiny layering growth habit that limits the commercial availability of KBBF.
