Here we report on the polymorphism and photoreactivity of a hydrobromide salt of 4-aminocinnamic acid, [1H]Br, which we obtained in two polymorphic forms, A and B. While form B photoreacts in an SCSC fashion, to the corresponding dimer α-[12H2]Br2 via formation of solid solutions, irradiation of form A, surprisingly, triggers an SCSC conversion into a third polymorph, denoted as C.
