Hydrogen-Bonded Open-Framework with Pyridyl-Decorated Channels: Straightforward Preparation and Insight into Its Affinity for Acidic Molecules in Solution

Off-charge-stoichiometry assemblage of ionic H-bond donors and acceptors was found to be a straightforward approach to a hydrogen-bonded open framework with pores decorated by basic sites. The supramolecular architecture exhibits 1-nm-wide channels functionalized by pyridyl groups and high accessible voids (53 %).Remarkable affinity was achieved for acidic organic molecules, including larger drug molecules.
