UV light irradiated trifluoromethylation of diheteroaryl disulfides with CF3SO2Na
A simple protocol for the UV light irradiated preparation of heteroaryl trifluoromethyl thioethers from disulfides and inexpensive, environmentally sodium triflinate (CF3SO2Na) is developed. The features of simple and clean reaction conditions, in moderate to good yields, and broad substrate scope render this new approach synthetically attractive for the preparation of potentially pharmaceutically active compounds.
