Two-Dimensional Lead(II) Halide-Based Hybrid Perovskites Templated by Acene Alkylamines: Crystal Structures, Optical Properties, and Piezoelectricity

A series of two-dimensional hybrid organic−inorganic perovskites, with acene alkylammonium cations and lead(II) halide frameworks, are reported and compared in a structure−property context. Correlation between organic cation penetration and perovskite layer distortion provides a means to tailor optical characteristics. Some promising properties, including sharp color-tunable exciton emission, broad white-light emission, and piezoelectricity are also explored.
