δ-Polymorph of Manganese Phosphate

Manganese phosphate readily crystallizes in a fourth polymorphic modification, δ-Mn3(PO4)2. Its structure features a three-dimensional framework of [MnO5] edge-shared with [PO4] resulting in sub-nanometer channels. The high thermal stability of δ-Mn3(PO4)2 and its relationships with β′-Mn3(PO4)2 and LiMnPO4 suggest that it is a common intermediate in manganese-phosphate chemistry.
