Syntheses of anomerically bridged mannofuranosides and aza-macrocycles by Richman–Atkins cyclization
Diisopropylidene mannofuranose could be efficiently bridged by phase transfer catalysis via the anomeric position with various tethering structures. Employing Richman–Atkins cyclization conditions with cesium carbonate in DMF mannofuranoside-associated aza-macrocycles were obtained. Further, novel tetrasa-ccharide coronands could be accessed displaying oxa-aza-macrocylic [2+2]glycophanes.
