Back Cover: Exceptionally Long-Lived Photodriven Multi-Electron Storage without Sacrificial Reagents (Chem. Eur. J. 45/2017)

Martin Kuss-Petermann, Oliver S. Wenger
Electrons are difficult to accumulate on a given molecular unit, but the presence of the strong Lewis acid Sc3+ leads to a champion lifetime of a two-electron reduction product in the absence of sacrificial reagents. This shows that metal ion-coupled electron transfer (MCET) can be exploited for accumulation of reducing equivalents on quinones. Multi-photon, multi-electron reactions are of key importance for artificial photosynthesis. More information can be found in the Full Paper by M. Kuss-Petermann and O. S. Wenger on page 10808.
