Investigation of the NLO properties of two covalently bonded porphyrin−POM hybrids reveals that hybrids have greater optical nonlinearity as compared to their porphyrin precursors, and more Dawson POM moieties (strong electron accepting ability) attached with porphyrin (electron donor) endow more ease of electron transfer from porphyrin to polyoxometalates when compounds are subjected to laser irradiation leading to more enhanced optical nonlinearity.
