Palladium Nanoparticles Covered on Amine-Functionalized Mesoporous Hollow SiO 2 Spheres for the Reduction of 4-Nitrophenol
Abstract
Highly dispersed Pd nanoparticles (NPs) covered on amine-functionalized mesoporous hollow SiO2 spheres (Pd/MHSS-NH2) have been successfully prepared. The morphology, structure and composition of Pd/MHSS-NH2 were characterized by Transmission electron micrograph (TEM), N2 ad-desorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transfer infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The as-prepared Pd/MHSS-NH2 exhibited remarkably high activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) compared with other catalysts, which could be attributed to high dispersion of Pd NPs, amine functional groups on MHSS support, as well as mesoporous MHSS-NH2 shell. Additional, the Pd/MHSS-NH2 catalyst could be recovered by centrifugation from the reaction mixture and recycled six times without loss in activity.
