A new m-phthalic diamide-linked zinc bisporphyrinate has been designed and synthesized. When it was mixed with chiral monoamines, the signs of the resulting circular dichroism for the monoamines with an aryl substituent are just opposite to those with an alkyl substituent. Our studies on the chirality transfer mechanism reveal that the interactions between the linker and guests are crucial and the nature of the bulkiest substituent of chiral monoamines makes a difference.
