Electrocatalytic water splitting is a promising approach for clean and sustainable hydrogen production. Earth-abundant molybdenum carbides are regarded as promising candidates for replacing benchmark Pt-group electrocatalysts in water electrolysis. In their Review on page 10947 ff., B. Y. Xia, X. Wang et al. introduced and discussed the progress and prospective on MoxC nanocatalysts from advanced nanostructure engineering to exciting properties for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).
