Facile Green Synthesis of WO3·H2O Nanoplates and WO3 Nanowires with Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Performance

Facile Green Synthesis of WO3·H2O Nanoplates and WO3 Nanowires with Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Performance

A green synthesis strategy is demonstrated for the synthesis of WO3·H2O nanoplates at room temperature using ethanol as only solvent. WO3·H2O nanoplates were slowly transformed to WO3 nanowires at 200°C as solvothermal reaction duration increased. The photoelectrochemical activity of the as-synthesized (200) oriented WO3 nanowires is found to be ∼21 times higher than that of WO3·H2O nanoplates.
