Complexes: An Experimental and Density Functional Theoretical Study

The electronic structures of all complexes in the three- and four-membered redox series [Cr(MePDP)2]z (z = 1−, 2−, 3−) and [Mo(MePDP)2]z (z = 0, 1−, 2−, 3−) have been elucidated via a combination of structural, spectroscopic, and computational methods. The results establish the redox-active nature of the bis(pyrrolyl)pyridine ligand system with ligand radical formation under reducing conditions.
