New Adamantane-like Silicophosphate Cage and Its Reactivity toward Tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane

New Adamantane-like Silicophosphate Cage and Its Reactivity toward Tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane
Bohuslava Relichova, Petr Machac, Michal Babiak, Ales Styskalik, Jiri Pinkas
The condensation of Ph2Si(OC(O)CH3)2 with OP(OSiMe3)3 provides the new silicophosphate molecule Ph12Si6P4O16 (1) with an adamantane-like core. The reaction with B(C6F5)3 provides two new adducts. In Ph12Si6O16P4·3B(C6F5)3 (2) possessing C3 symmetry, the adamantane-like cage is preserved ,forming homochiral crystals of 2P and 2M. The second adduct Ph6Si3O8P2·2B(C6F5)3 (3) resulted from an unexpected reorganization of Si−O−P linkages. Its inorganic core represents half of the parent molecule 1.
