Molecular-Oriented Self-Assembly of Small Organic Molecules into Uniform Microspheres

Molecular-Oriented Self-Assembly of Small Organic Molecules into Uniform Microspheres
Xue-Dong Wang, Zhi-Zhou Li, Jie Ma, Liang-Sheng Liao
The head of DFHP molecule forms hydrogen bond with ethanol and the tail of DFHP dissolves in the dichloromethane phase, which exhibits amphiphilic nature, contributing to the self-assembled amorphous microspheres. In contrast, both the head and the tail of DFPHP have hydrogen bonds with the ethanol, which leads to the ordered molecular packing and then the formation of rhombic microcrystals.
