Welcome to the ammonium station! The picture represents the ammonium molecular station over which the macrocycle is temporarily parked, before moving to either the triazolium or the anilinium stations. In their Full Paper on page 11529 ff., F. Coutrot et al. describe a three-station-based [2]rotaxane molecular shuttle in which the macrocycle can shuttle over three stations depending on pH and selective carbamoylation/decarbamoylation reactions.
