Four blue light Zn(II)/Cd(II)/Hg(II) complexes 14 based on benzimidazole derivatives were obtained. The overall conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cell devices using cosensitizers of 1/N719 and 4/N719 is 26.72% and 25.34%, higher than that of a device solely sensitized by N719 (6.55%).
