A series of mononuclear heteroleptic complexes of the Fe(II) ion have been prepared. All complexes exhibit temperature-driven spin crossover (SCO), in most cases with the onset of the low-spin → high-spin conversion above room temperature. A distinctive feature of these compounds is the N4S2 coordination environment, which is rarely encountered for SCO complexes of the Fe(II) ion. The spin conversion is gradual and in two cases exhibits a two-step nature.
