Metal–Organic Frameworks as Supramolecular Templates for Directing Aromatic Packing Motifs
Matthias Zeller, Jeremy K. Klosterman, Charles F. Campana, Liubov M. Lifshits
Modular methods to direct the molecular packing of aromatic organic chromophores are essential for understanding the subtle principles needed to predict intermolecular interactions and design uniform, efficient organic optoelectronic devices. Here we show that layered two-dimensional metal−organic frameworks, based on the copper paddlewheel and 5-aryl isophthalates, can template new interstitial packing motifs for small acenes.
