Enantioselective incorporation of dicarboxylate guests by octacalcium phosphate

We have investigated the effects of guest molecule chirality on incorporation into octacalcium phosphate (OCP). OCP incorporates (S)-(-)-methylsuccinic acid (MeSuc), while no significant amount of (R)-(+)-MeSuc is incorporated. This enantioselectivity clearly indicates that OCP recognizes the steric structures of guest molecules.
