Fluoridosilicate A2SiF6 (A=Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) nanoparticles have been prepared, which are promising host lattices for future LEDs. For the preparation, the ionic liquid BmimPF6 is used as a solvent, reactant as well as surfactant, thus avoiding the use of toxic HF or elemental fluorine. For more details, see the Communication by C. Wickleder et al. on page 12092 ff.
