The composites based on superhalogen and Brønsted acid, (HX)m/MgnCl2n (m, n = 1−3; x = F, Cl, Br), are shown to be capable of working as novel superacids of which the acidities are close to those of the strongest superacids ever reported. The acidities of these new composite superacids are mainly determined by their superhalogen components as larger VDE value of the superhalogen parts leads to stronger acidity of the whole composite.
