Enhanced Catalytic Activity of Iridium(III) Complexes by Facile Modification of C,N-Bidentate Chelating Pyridylideneamide Ligands
Miquel Navarro, Martin Albrecht, Christene A. Smith
Easily tunable chelating pyridylideneamide (PYA) ligands bound to iridium(III) impart high catalytic activity in transfer hydrogenation of carbonyls and imines and hydrosilylation of alkynes, including protocols for base-free transfer hydrogenation of aldehydes, while reduced under base-free conditions, aldehydes undergo rapid PYA-iridium-catalyzed oxidation to acids in the presence of base with very high turnover frequencies (>20000 h−1).
