Gehaltsunterschiede in der Ärzteschaft

Gibt es Geschlechterunterschiede bei den Gehältern in der Ärzteschaft? Und welche Faktoren könnten eine Rolle spielen? Um diesen Fragen auf den Grund zu gehen, führten Whaley und Team eine retrospektive Beobachtungsstudie auf Basis einer Gehälterumfrage unter Medizinern durch und kamen zu einem überraschenden Ergebnis: amerikanische Ärztinnen verdienten bis zu 90 000 Dollar weniger im Jahr als ihre männlichen Kollegen. Dabei fiel die Differenz umso größer aus, je mehr Männer in der jeweiligen Praxis arbeiteten. Diesen Zahlen zufolge scheint die Gender-Pay-Gap auch unter Medizinern noch Realität zu sein.
