Macathiohydantoins B–K, novel thiohydantoin derivatives from Lepidium meyenii

Macathiohydantoins B–K, novel thiohydantoin derivatives from Lepidium meyenii
Macathiohydantoins B–K (110), two new group of naturally occurring thiohydantoin derivatives, together with one known analogues (11), were isolated from the rhizomes of Lepidium meyenii (Maca). Compounds 111 were all initially obtained as racemic mixtures and further separated by chiral HPLC chromatography to afford the eleven pairs of enantiomers. The structures of 110 including their absolute configurations were fully established by the comprehensive spectroscopic analysis and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations. All isolates were evaluated for their cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities.
