Cyanido-Bridged {LnIIIWV} Heterobinuclear Complexes: Synthesis and Magneto-Structural Study

The isomorphous cyanido-bridged {LnIIIWV} heterobinuclear complexes proved to be suitable model compounds to assess the magnetic exchange interaction between lanthanide(III) and tungsten(V) ions via the cyanide ligand [Ln = Gd (1), Tb (2), Dy (3), Ho (4), Er (5)]. The Q-band EPR spectra at low temperature indicate MJ = 0 (2 and 4) and ±1/2 (3 and 5) as ground state. Compounds 3 and 5 exhibit slow relaxation of the magnetization.
