Nitrene radical complexes are reactive intermediates with intriguing electronic structures, and are best described as “nitrogen-centered radicals”. They are important intermediates in a variety of “nitrene transfer” reactions, such as aziridination and C−H amination. The Concept article by B. de Bruin et al. on page 13819 ff. is focused on their electronic structure, involvement in catalysis and highlights the important developments in the field.
